GRANT PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY BY HEBER ROTARY The Special Committee of the Rotary Club of Heber Springs has just completed a unique project of interviewing a number of non-profit organizations in this area for the purpose of distributing $50,000.00 received from the estate of Lillian Pearce. The interviews gave the Rotary Committee of seven members an opportunity to learn more about the goals, accomplishments and financial needs of these non-profits. It also gave the executive directors, board members and volunteers of these organizations a chance to learn about Rotary and the continued dedication of Heber Springs Rotarians in improving this community. The Committee worked diligently in engaging the non-profits in meaningful discussions. The most difficult part was allocating the $50,000.00 to many worthwhile needs. In spite of the temptation to give all interviewing non-profits the same amount, we did not follow that formula but did our best to determine where the money would do the most good. Some of the organizations so interviewed told us they received an additional benefit by preparing for the interview and allowing them to review their goals, how they were organized and how best additional funds could be used. As the Committee makes these presentations, you will learn more about the non-profits and how the Rotary Club of Heber Springs made their decisions.
