Vanguard Discovery Camp Offers Summer Learning, Fun
BEEBE, Ark. – Arkansas State University-Beebe’s Vanguard Discovery Camp to offer six weeks of summer learning and fun starting in June.
Vanguard
Discovery Camp is a series of STEM-related courses designed for
students entering the fourth through eighth grades. Session topics
include exploration of medical professions, Lego Robotics, developing a
smartphone application and drone piloting class.
Vanguard Discovery Camp will be presented for two weeks at each ASU-Beebe campus located in: Heber Springs, Searcy and Beebe.
The
first session will be held from Monday, June 4 - Friday, June 8 at the
ASU-Beebe Heber Springs campus. The morning class will feature
Forensics, and will be presented from 8 a.m. to noon. The afternoon
class, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., will feature Black Rocket: Code Breakers.
The second session at the Heber Springs campus will be held Monday, June 11 - Friday, June 15. The morning class will be Junior Naturalist from 8 a.m. to noon. The afternoon class will feature the Black Rocket: Minecraft® Modders from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The
second iteration of the Vanguard Discovery Camp will be held at the
ASU-Beebe Searcy campus from Monday, June 18 to Friday, June 22. The
morning class is designated as PULSE Medical Week and will be 8 a.m. to
noon. This session will introduce students to the technology and skills
used in a variety of medical professions. The afternoon class, from 1
p.m. to 5 p.m., will feature Black Rocket: App Attack.
The second week at the ASU-Beebe Searcy campus will be Monday, July 9 to Friday, July 13. The morning class for this segment will feature Lego® Robotics from 8 a.m. to noon. The afternoon class includes Black Rocket: Minecraft® Designers from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, July 16 through Friday, July 20 the Vanguard Discovery Camp moves to the Beebe campus for its first week in Beebe. During this week, separate morning sessions of Lego® Robotics and Drone Technology will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon. The drone class is presented in partnership with Beebe High School. The afternoon segment will feature Black Rocket: Code Breakers from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The second session at the Beebe campus will run from Monday, July 23 to Friday, July 27. The morning class will be Junior Naturalist from 8 a.m. to noon. The afternoon class will feature Minecraft® Modders from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
