Four Area Students Receive Scholarships from Cleburne County Community Foundation
Four area students were selected
as the 2017 recipients of the Jim and Jean Stanford Christian Health Center
Scholarship from the Cleburne County Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas
Community Foundation. Hannah Elizabeth Thomas, Blake Eddington, and Bailey
Thomas Pearce, all of Heber Springs, and Jacklyn Renea Massey of Rosebud, were
chosen to receive $1000 scholarships. The Stanford scholarships are awarded
annually to students who are studying in healthcare-related fields from
Cleburne County.
Hannah Thomas will be studying
nursing, while Blake Eddington will begin a pre-med program and Bailey Pearce
will be studying occupational therapy this fall at the University of Central AR
in Conway. Jacklyn Massey will be studying at ASU Heber Springs in Health
Sciences, with plans to finish her education at ASU Jonesboro where she will
study Sonography.
“This scholarship, funded by the generosity of Jim and Jean Stanford, was established to continue the impact of the Christian Health Center in Cleburne County, by encouraging study in health-related fields,” said Kathy Phillips, Community Foundation Executive Director. “The selection committee had a difficult task to choose from many worthwhile candidates, but the applicants selected not only demonstrate excellence in their personal and academic pursuits, but will represent our community well in their professions once they complete their studies. We are glad to be able to help them on their journey.”
