On Wednesday, March 22nd, Anthony Galloway of The Rotary Club of Heber Springs paid a special visit to The CALL on North 4th Street. Representing the Rotary Club's Special Grant Committee, Galloway toured the CALL's facility and presented them with a "Lillian Swartz Pearce Grant". The Rotary Grant Committee had determined unanimously that The CALL would be one of the local non-profit organizations to receive a portion of the funds recently bequeathed to the Rotary Club through the Estate of Lillian Swartz Pearce.
As Galloway stated during his visit, the motto of a Rotary Club is always "service above self". Rotarians strive to advance goodwill and provide humanitarian services through dedicated efforts within the community. He said that the members of Rotary's Grant Committee had seen those same qualities and community dedication in the staff members and volunteers of The CALL.
The CALL's mission is to help meet the needs of local children in foster care. Working with area churches, they assemble a support team of volunteers to wrap around their foster and adoptive families. The CALL partners with trained professionals of the Department of Human Services, the Family Development Resources, and the Nurturing Parenting Program to further educate, equip, and encourage the Christian community to provide a future, a hope, and a home for children in foster care in Arkansas.
