SUGARLOAF HERITIAGE COUNCIL PARTNERS WITH CHAMBER FOUNDATION

Heber Springs, Ark., December, 5, 2106 – The Sugarloaf Heritage Council, founded in 2007, works to restore and enhance the Sugarloaf Mountain in Heber Springs, Arkansas. The mountain’s graffiti-covered faces and deteriorated historic Summit Trail have been cleaned and restored since then. As a volunteer organization, the Council has achieved this through the efforts of grant funds, membership fees and sponsorships in cooperation with the Arkansas State University Foundation.

To continue the improvement of the mountain trails and expand the scope of the organization, the Council has approved a new partnership with the Heber Springs Area Chamber Foundation as the fund administrator for the Council’s donations and grant funds. This will allow the Council to raise funds utilizing the 501(c)(3) status of the Chamber Foundation without the expense of forming its own non-profit organization.

“Utilizing the Chamber Foundation will allow us to move very quickly to complete our master plan for Sugarloaf Mountain and its trail systems. We are excited about this partnership and how easy the Foundation has been to work with. We think the Chamber Foundation is an enormous asset to the Heber Springs community,” said Neil Beisenstein, President of the Sugarloaf Heritage Council.

The next steps in the Council’s master plan is to further develop the unique natural setting, including enhanced picnic and rest areas, other recreational features, and on-going maintenance. The completed projects on and around Sugarloaf Mountain include extensive graffiti removal, restoration of the historic Summit Trail, the Tonawanda Base Trail, and the development of the Hidden Pond Trail and picnic area. For more information on visiting or hiking Sugarloaf Mountain, visit www.sugarloafheritagecouncil.org  or call (501) 362-5858
