The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking a talented, community focused individual to fill the role of Executive Director.

 

This is a full-time, salaried position. Scheduled as 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with additional evening and weekend hours required as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.

 

Position summary:

The Executive Director is responsible for the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of all existing duties and functions of the Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce.  In general, this includes, but is not limited to, suggesting new ideas to increase revenue, decrease cost, and or improve the quality of Chamber products and services; reporting all relevant information to the Board of Directors; implementing all directives from the Board of Directors; effectively managing all full-time, part-time, and volunteer staff; developing membership and serving their needs; being an excellent ambassador to the Heber Springs Area as a source of information and an enthusiastic, articulate, communicator; being a good steward of the Chamber’s  finances, and doing so with honesty and integrity.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

(1) Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

(2) Enthusiasm for the Heber Springs Area and what it has to offer as a destination for citizens, businesses, tourists, and others interested in visiting or relocating to the area.

(3) Professional appearance and conduct.

(4) Conscientiousness (ownership, attention to detail, willingness to go above and beyond job duties and normal work schedules as needed to successfully complete chamber tasks.)

(5) The ability to manage chamber staff effectively (train, encourage, reward, delegate, offer constructive criticism, evaluate performance, and correct and discipline as warranted)

(6) Effective delegation of duties

(7) Ability to plan and schedule.

(8) Reliability (punctuality, timeliness of work, excellent attendance, etc).

(9) Proficient with budgeting, spreadsheets and QuickBooks

(10) Proficient with Microsoft Office 

(11) Proficient with social media marketing 

(12) Experience with ChamberData CC-Assist software strongly preferred

(13) Experience with Constant Contact and Canva strongly preferred

(14) Event planning experience.  Large event planning experience is very helpful.  

(15) Meeting preparations and proposal making (minutes, agendas, budgets, idea presentations, etc.) 

(16) Relationship building; Must be able to work well with membership, large sponsors, government officials, civic leaders, organization leaders, and the press.

The Board of Directors reserves the right to conduct pre-employment drug screenings and or background checks on applicants.  If the Board elects to conduct such screenings, they will be given uniformly and without exception to ALL applicants who are finalists for the position.

 

Degrees, Licenses, Certificates, and Registrations:

This is a professional position. A four-year degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is strongly preferred, but not required.  However, education and or training sufficient to give the candidate at least a basic to intermediate skill level in math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages); accounting (interest rates, budgets, balancing checkbooks); computer skills (Microsoft Office, QuickBooks); and language arts (writing and speaking in a professional, articulate, grammatically correct manner) are minimal requirements.

 

Professional appearance and demeanor are required.

 

A valid Arkansas driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; walk; stand for periods greater than one hour; periodically lift boxes and other supplies in up to 30 lbs from floor to above the head several times in a day; speak; hear; see (specific vision requirements are distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus).

Stress level of this job may be high at times since the Director and staff are frequently required to multi-task, under strict deadlines, and reliant upon help that is often comprised of volunteers.

The position is highly visible in the community which may also increase the level of stress.

The noise level in the office is typically low to moderate.

The lighting levels are typical of an office environment.

Working outside in the heat, cold, and inclement weather will be required for extended periods of time periodically throughout the year. Consequently, environmental work conditions will be uncontrollable at times.
