SURVEY WORK PLANNED FOR GREERS FERRY LAKE

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers advises landowners adjacent to public lands on Greers Ferry Lake that survey and maintenance crews will be conducting surveys and performing boundary maintenance along several sections of government boundary in both Cleburne and Van Buren counties.

The work began mid-October and should take four to five months to complete. B&F Engineering, Inc., of Hot Springs, Ark., and Barnett Resource Management, LLC, of Rose Bud, Ark., are conducting the work under contract with the Corps of Engineers.

Work will consist of finding and/or replacing original Corps boundary monuments, setting new monuments and marking boundary lines that were never marked, clearing brush along the boundary line on the public land side, replacing and repainting survey marker posts, and painting trees in between the survey monuments to serve as a reference that the government property line passes nearby.

The crews will also be documenting possible encroachments on public property such as excessive mowing, unauthorized paths, tree cutting, personal property stored on public land and structures such as sheds, houses and decks for Corps personnel to review for future resolution.

In order for the contractors to complete the survey work, it may be necessary for survey crews to work on or around private property, locating private property corners along with Corps boundary monuments. Contractors will attempt to contact adjacent property owners before entering private property to conduct the survey.
