Downtown Heber Springs selects executive director

 

The Board of Directors for Downtown Heber Springs has selected Kathy Phillips as the executive director, a part-time position.   Kathy also serves as part-time executive director of the Cleburne County Community Foundation in Heber Springs.   Kathy has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, previously serving as program developer for Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Community Service and Nonprofit Support, the state agency that provides training and resources for volunteer and nonprofit organizations. In that position, she was the statewide recognition specialist, coordinating both the KARK Community Service Awards and the Volunteer Community of the Year Awards, held in conjunction with the Arkansas Municipal League.    She earned her Community Development certification by completing three years of the Community Development Institute at the University of Central Arkansas. Kathy also earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.   In addition, she is a Certified Volunteer Manager.

“I grew up in Cleburne County and my own history is tied to the history of this area. My heart is in this county, and I believe that working with Downtown Heber Springs will allow me to put my heart where my work is. I look forward to working with the merchants of downtown and community leaders to grow and enhance Downtown Heber Springs’” commented Phillips. 

Kathy is a native of Cleburne County, having grown up in the community of Ida, where she and her husband currently reside.
